Know the dangers

The Know The Dangers resource highlights the most common causes of collisions for motorcyclists.

The films were initially produced in 2021, thanks to funding from The Road Safety Trust, and have received in excess of half a million views on social media.

They are available for stakeholders to use.

This page shares the videos, and associated downloads, including infographics and a briefing note for their usage as an educational resource.

The videos

The original suite of eight videos all contain safety messages.

The two new campaign films - added to coincide with the SSUP's 20th anniversary - do not include safety messages.

Downloads

The first eight videos (including the full version) were produced with safety messages attached.

Meanwhile, all of the individual films have versions without the safety messages. These are designed as an educational resource for instructors and trainers to use with learners, who can attempt to identify the dangers without the prompts.

A series of infographics have also been produced - summarising the key safety messages in image form.

Original resource

The original Know the Dangers resource is available to download and use free-of-charge.

The resource is available in three formats:

• A full colour series of road layouts with the various riding conflicts clearly illustrated, together with appropriate notes of explanation and advice.

• A Powerpoint presentation of the above scenarios for use in teaching and other presentations.

• A set of road layout diagrams for training use, which give full flexibility for trainers to illustrate rider positioning - riders overtaking moving traffic are at risk.
